The administrative headquarters of Cooperativa, "Maison Fontina", are located in Saint-Christophe, covering an area of over 10,000 square meters. We make Fontina D.O.P following the culinary tradition that started approximately seven hundred years ago when Fontina was simply called "Caseus". However, Cooperativa has invested considerable resources in the maturing rooms and production plants. Moreover, we have renovated and expanded our facilities to meet the growing needs of a market that keeps growing and changing. Simultaneously, we have installed several packaging lines to offer our customers Fontina D.O.P. in different formats ranging between 200 g. blocks to half wheels, or even whole wheels. Our latest addition is our “perfect slice”, practical thermoformed trays containing slices of Fontina D.O.P.
Innovation respecting tradition.
The latest addition to the cooperative is an underground warehouse adjacent to the Saint-Christophe headquarters, which has a total capacity of over 92,000 wheels. Here, Asterix and Obelix take care of over 92,000 forms of Fontina PDO replacing the hard work of humans in the decisive and delicate phase of ripening and maturing of the cheese whilst always respecting and keeping tradition.
