The Cooperativa Produttori Latte e Fontina has been managing the ripening in caves of the Fontina produced by its members for over 60 years.
Since then, the attribution of the Protected Designation of Origin (D.O.P.) label has guaranteed the best quality of the product.
The Cooperativa Produttori Latte e Fontina was established in 1957 to make and bring to others the well-known produce of Aosta Valley, Fontina D.O.P. This venture started with only 46 founding partners. Currently, over 200 companies collaborate to offer the most authentic and traditional products. Our mission started with less than 40,000 wheels of our beloved cheese, while today we have over 250,000.
It excels among mountain cheeses for its soft and elastic, melt-in-the-mouth texture, intensely fragrant, with moderate holes.
In addition to FONTINA D.O.P., the Cooperative produces TOMA DI GRESSONEY, BUTTER, as well as some Fontina-based products, namely FONDUTA and FONTÌFETTE, to enjoy this cheese in all forms.

The Cooperative has set up a visitors' centre next to the Valpelline warehouse. The purpose of this structure is to provide guests with an overview of the entire Fontina production chain.
In addition to the retail point of sale in Saint-Christophe, situated just in front of the Cooperative's head office, there are other two wooden "chalets" where it is possible to buy the Fontina D.O.P.; they are located respectively in Pré-Saint-Didier and in Cogne. The Cooperative also manages a sales point inside the Valpelline Visitors' Centre and another one in Fontainemore.
